About the Studio

Join a studio with a rich, long story of helping larger development teams create immersive, entertaining worlds. After joining a massive collective of independent game studios, this company is ready to focus on its own unique, in-house IPs.

Nowadays, the studio is working on a singular cooperative space survival game based on the tropes of anime shows and films of the late ‘80s. They are building a programming team to work on all of their incoming productions.

Responsibilities and Requirements

As a Lead Engineer, you will be the heart of the studio’s rising programming team. You will support, manage, and lead a team of experienced gameplay developers, all while developing the team’s identity and ethos.

Your day-to-day experience will be as follows:

  • Create new gameplay systems from scratch, growing them from ideation and prototyping to the final stage of production
  • Assist the Production team in breaking down gameplay features into smaller areas, planning the schedule needed to meet each deadline and goal
  • Appraise and empower each of the team’s members through clear paths and goals
  • Delegate tasks effectively to each team member
  • Communicate clearly with the team and involve each member in the project’s planning and execution phases
  • Review potential candidates and lead the studio’s hiring efforts

About You

As a Lead Engineer, you are experienced and passionate about performance management and career development in small teams. You have a proactive mindset and intimate knowledge of how to conceive gameplay features from prototype to completion. Ideally, the studio is looking for the following traits:

  • Minimum of 4 years in a lead/management role
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in C++
  • Prior experience producing and shipping games in Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Previous experience leading game development on multiple platforms
  • Considerable experience as a technical lead in Engineering divisions
  • Knowledge of how to build new development teams and establish workflows
  • Skilful at mentoring junior-to-senior employees
  • Mastery over Agile development processes
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Desirable talents include:

  • At least two shipped games on multiple platforms
  • Considerable background in multiplayer and network-based gaming
  • Prior experience in implementing new features and DLC
